As college football’s second weekend has come and gone the black eye on the Big 12 remains. The teams that should have won did but the teams that really needed to didn’t. The Big 12 lost games on Saturday to the Big 10, the PAC 12, the SEC and the MAC while picking up wins over the American, Conference USA, the Sun Belt, . There’s not a lot of pride in that.

Oklahoma Sooners 59 – Louisiana-Monroe 17 | Offensive Position Grades

Oklahoma’s starting offense pretty much did what they were expected to Saturday night against Louisiana-Monroe. The Sooners produced 59 points and 640 yards of total offense. Again, it’s what they were supposed to do and you really can’t fault them for doing so against a defense that was out of their league in more ways than one.

Louisiana-Monroe At Oklahoma | What To Watch For

Oklahoma’s game against Louisiana-Monroe shouldn’t provide much in the way of stiff competition but that doesn’t mean there won’t be things to look for. The Sooners have a short window of opportunity when it comes to fixing some glaring problems that were exposed in the season opener last week. Because of that, there will be a lot more happening on the field than just a football game.

Oklahoma Football Opponent First Look | Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks

The Matt Viator era got underway with a bang for ULM as the Warhawks equaled half of their win total from 2015 with a 38-21 win over Southern on Saturday evening. Led by a strong rushing attack ULM surpassed their 2015 scoring average by seventeen points. They also held Southern to 15 fewer points than what their defense averaged in surrender last season. However, they’re far from a perfect team and should allow Oklahoma the necessary level of competition to correct some mistakes without fear of a major upset.
