Why the Thunder Will Cover (-9.5)
The Spurs have not only covered the spread twice against the Thunder in the last 2 weeks, but they have outright beaten them, and it wasn’t exactly close a couple of days ago. San Antonio has played the aggressor, while OKC has looked far too passive in the previous meetings, but I don’t see that happening again, especially in front of the home crowd on Christmas Day. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won’t be the only player in a Thunder uniform to have a big game this time. I think Jalen Williams reminds everyone why he’s one of the best 2nd options in the league, and Chet Holmgren proves he’s a worthy rival for Victor Wembanyama.
Why the Game Will NOT Hit the Over (232.5)
Tuesday’s meeting between these two teams hit the over due to San Antonio’s fourth-quarter explosion that led to a blowout, but with both teams having a day of rest in between the game, I think this one will lean more heavily on defense. OKC’s defense has struggled to keep San Antonio’s guards out of the paint, but I won’t be surprised if Mark Daigneault has made necessary adjustments to taper their production this time. I like this one being close to the line but coming in just under the point total.
