OKC Thunder | Play-In Game #1 Preview: New Orleans Pelicans

The regular season is all wrapped up, and the Oklahoma City Thunder far surpassed preseason expectations as they managed to win 40 games and sneak their way into the Play-In Tournament. OKC is as healthy as they can be at this point in the season as they travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans in the 9/10 game.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Needs a Win in NOLA

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jaylen Williams are both back in the lineup tonight, and they should be well-rested. Add to it that Brandon Ingram is a game-time decision after spraining his ankle late in the game Wednesday night. Taking all of that into consideration, plus the fact that the Pelicans have a few other injuries they’re dealing with, I feel pretty good about OKC covering and pulling out a win on the road.

OKC Thunder | Game #67 Preview: New Orleans Pelicans

The Oklahoma City Thunder has a Saturday night showdown in New Orleans agains the Pelicans, and the Thunder could use a win after the thrashing they received in Phoenix on Wednesday night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be playing after a night off on Wednesday, and Brandon Ingram is questionable for the Pelicans with a sprained ankle. This is the first game of a back-to-back for OKC, and a win would go a long way concerning playoff odds.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Favored at Home Against Ailing Pelicans

For the first few years of his career, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was not the most efficient scorer. He’s consistently been pretty good at scoring in and around the paint, but his three-point shooting has fluctuated quite a bit. Lately, however, Shai has been scoring at an incredibly efficient rate, all while not shooting much from beyond the perimeter. On Friday night against the Blazers, SGA managed 44 points on just 16 shots from the floor, primarily because of his ability to get deep into the paint, thus making his way to the free throw line. Because of the efficiency with which he has been playing, OKC has been scoring more as a whole, and everybody has benefited on the offensive side of the ball. I think that will play a big role in tonight’s matchup with the Pelicans, giving OKC the edge at home.

OKC has been favored in just a handful of games so far this season, and they haven’t fared all that well, going just 2-5 against the spread. However, the Pelicans are down two of their best players in Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, and they haven’t done well on the road, going just 6-8 against the spread away from home. The Thunder is looking to tie their season-high winning streak of 4 games tonight, and I think they get it.

Another game came down to the wire on Wednesday evening for the Oklahoma City Thunder as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 27 points in a 108-98 Thunder victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. OKC is on a 3-game winning streak, and tonight they host one of the best teams in the Western Conference in the New Orleans Pelicans.

Thunder Against the Spread | Expect a Light Show in NOLA

Let’s just pretend that Saturday’s game in Houston never happened. OKC should come out against the Pelicans with much better energy, and I anticipate the Thunder backcourt to thrive since the Pelicans should be missing Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum. I don’t know if OKC wins this one because Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas will surely give the Thunder fits, but it’ll be close for sure.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #21 Preview: New Orleans Pelicans

The Oklahoma City Thunder put on their worst performance of the season on Saturday in a 118-105 loss in Houston to the Rockets, a game that was never even close. The Thunder hopes to put that one in the past, however, as they travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans on Monday night.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #27 Preview: New Orleans Pelicans

The bottom two teams in the Western Conference meet tonight in OKC as the Thunder hosts the New Orleans Pelicans. The Thunder and Pelicans met earlier this season in New Orleans, a 108-100 win for OKC. Since then, neither team has had too much success in the win column, but there is plenty of young talent on both rosters to make this one a fun evening.
