Why the Thunder Will Cover (-5.5)
For just the fourth time all season, the Suns are an underdog in Phoenix, and there are several reasons why I like OKC to cover. For one, the Thunder is coming off two days of rest, while the Suns are playing in the second game of a back-to-back. OKC obviously covers more often than not after rest, but Phoenix is just 5-5 at covering the spread in SEGABABAs. Add to it that the Thunder is almost completely healthy while the Suns are dealing with a few minor injuries, and I like OKC’s odds to win and cover the spread.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (233.5)
Both of these teams have incredibly offensive talents, and I think that’s enough to expect this one to have some serious scoring. I don’t anticipate anything crazy, but this point total seems a little on the low side for me. OKC has one of the top defenses in the NBA, and Phoenix is in the top half, but between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, anybody can pop off for a 30-piece easy. And that’s not even mentioning Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, who have been scoring in bursts all season long. Give me the over on the point total.
