Thunder Against the Spread | OKC has Tough Cover in Denver

Denver and OKC have been killing it lately. The Nuggets are clearly the better team, but the Thunder keeps it close, regardless of who they’re playing. I can see this one coming down to some free throws at the end, so I’m taking OKC to cover, even if I’m not convinced they can pull off the win.

The competition continues to stiffen Sunday night as the Thunder takes on the Denver Nuggets on the road. The Nuggets are on a 9-game win streak, 8 of which have taken place at home. Nikola Jokic has been as efficient as ever, and Jamal Murray is playing some of the best basketball of his career. Despite the Thunder playing Denver close in all 3 matchups so far this season, the Nuggets sit atop the Western Conference with good reason, so OKC has their work cut out for them in this divisional matchup.

The Oklahoma City Thunder struggled to shoot the ball on Monday night against the New York Knicks, and Jalen Brunson scored a season-high 34 points, leading his team to a 129-119 victory over OKC. The Thunder gets another chance to play in front of the home crowd on Wednesday night as they host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

Winners of four straight, the Oklahoma City Thunder (4-3) is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. For the first time since January 10, 2021, OKC is over .500, but that is in jeopardy tonight as the Thunder hosts the Denver Nuggets (4-3). The two teams met just 12 days ago in Denver, a 5-point decision in favor of the Nuggets.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Preseason Game #1 Preview: Denver Nuggets

After an exciting offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder are finally back in action tonight as they kick off the preseason on the road against the Denver Nuggets. The Thunder will be without highly-touted rookie Chet Holmgren, who suffered an ankle injury during a pro-am game over the summer, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is still dealing with a sprained right MCL, but OKC fans still have plenty to be excited about. While this will likely be another season more focused on development over winning, the Thunder has a healthy mix of a strong returning veteran core and a youthful bunch of new guys.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is fresh off a 118-102 win against the Orlando Magic that a lot of Thunder fans view as a horrible mistake. At this point, OKC has been eliminated from the Playoffs, an expectation from day one, and so the goal should be finishing as low in the standings as possible in order to have a better chance at a top pick. That goal becomes much easier to attain when you play a clearly better team like the Thunder does tonight as they take on the Denver Nuggets on the road.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s struggles continue, but the same cannot be said for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In his three games since returning from a sprained ankle, Shai has averaged 35 points per game while shooting 61.2% from the floor. With the laundry list of injuries that the Thunder is currently dealing with, it just makes sense that SGA would step up and do what is necessary to keep OKC competitive. The Thunder will need another explosive game from Shai tonight as they travel to Colorado to take on the Denver Nuggets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder found redemption on Monday when they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 102-99 just a couple of weeks after a historic 73-point loss to them. With that win, the Thunder has consecutive victories for just the third time this season. Tonight, the Thunder hosts the Denver Nuggets, who have had their own issues with stringing wins together.

Tonight, the Thunder hosts the first of a back-to-back matchup with the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are also winless during the preseason at 0-3, but each loss has been by a single possession, by just a combined 5 points. I wouldn’t hope for a win from Oklahoma City tonight or tomorrow when the teams meet again at the BOK Center in Tulsa, but one thing we can always hope for is some highlights from the young guys.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is streaking—at least by their standards—after defeating the Atlanta Hawks 118-109 last night for a second straight win at home. OKC’s longest winning streak of the season is just 3, and they have a chance to match that tonight as they host division foe the Denver Nuggets.
