Things couldn’t have gone better for Oklahoma Baseball on Saturday…well, except for maybe the weather. In the early game of Saturday’s session the host team, Florida State, was eliminated by a dramatic 3-run, 2-out, walk-off home run. Then in the late (much later due to weather) game the Sooners took to the inside track of advancing to the Super Regional by downing Samford 4-0.

Oklahoma Routs #4 Texas Tech To Avoid Weekend Sweep

Possibly the best thing to come from Sunday’s victory, outside of staving off a series sweep, is that the Sooners were able to close out the game strong. That’s been a struggle for Oklahoma the last two weekends as late rallies from the Texas Longhorns and Red Raiders have cause OU leads evaporate and generate losses. With the Bedlam Series looming that’s certainly a trend Oklahoma would like to reverse.

The Big 12 has been around for a long time, 22 years to be exact, and during that time the Sooners have never boasted a 6-0 mark in conference play. That changed on Saturday when Oklahoma completed back-to-back weekend sweeps of conference opponents with a 6-1 win over Baylor.
