Why the Thunder Will NOT Cover (-6)
OKC is far and away the better team, but tonight’s injury report could make this one more interesting than normal. The Thunder are missing Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for the season, but Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso are also out tonight. Add to it that Ajay Mitchell could be missing, and OKC could be without 5 of their top 7 players.
The Mavericks are not perfectly healthy, however, with a couple of questions around key players, namely Kyrie Irving, who is back to playing after missing last season with a torn ACL.
The final injury report will likely give us a better idea of what to expect tonight, but I still like OKC to cover the spread. The Thunder are playing their 3rd game in 5 days, but the Mavericks are playing their 4th game in 6 days. Even with all the injuries, OKC is the deeper team, and having the reigning back-to-back MVP is kind of a big deal.
Why the Game Will NOT Hit the Over (229.5)
Even with extensive injuries, the Thunder were able to play solid defense against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still pretty impressive. The Mavericks aren’t exactly great on either side of the ball, but I think considering where both teams are at with their lineups, I think staying under the point total is the move.
