Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #4 Preview: Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder finishes out their 3-game road trip on Monday night as they take on the Mavericks in Dallas. The Thunder handily defeated the Hawks in Atlanta on Saturday night to stay perfect, while the Mavs picked up their first win of the season last night at home against the Toronto Raptors.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #44 Preview: Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder hosts the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday in the second game of a back-to-back for both teams. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-high 54 points last night as the Thunder defeated the Utah Jazz 123-114, and the Mavericks fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-114 at home.

Thunder Against the Spread | Thunder and Mavs Face Off in OKC for Final Meeting of the Season

Both teams are playing in the second game of a back-to-back, which favors the youth of Oklahoma City, but Dallas had several guys sit out last night who are questionable for tonight’s matchup. It really just depends on who all plays for the Mavericks, but I do think they manage to keep it right around the spread. I anticipate a late cover by Dallas.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #41 Preview: Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a statement last night at home as they soundly defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 134-114. Now OKC has to turn around and travel down to Dallas to take on the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are missing Luka Doncic and Derek Lively II, and they may also be without Kyrie Irving. Either way, the Thunder needs to play their game and take care of business. They cannot afford to let down against an injured team that they are clearly better than, so if they just play like they can play, this one shouldn’t even be close.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Heavily Favored Over Mavs Despite SEGABABA in Dallas

This absolutely feels like a trap game for OKC. After a monster win last night at home against Cleveland, the Thunder could easily let down on the road in the second game of a back-to-back against a team without its best player in Luka Doncic and maybe without Kyrie Irving. Still, I think OKC knows that they have to re-focus, and in the end, the Mavericks should not be able to hang with the Thunder for four quarters considering who they are missing. OKC should win by double digits, so I’m taking them to cover.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #24 Preview: Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder kicks of the NBA Cup Quarterfinals at home on Tuesday night as they host the Dallas Mavericks. The Thunder enters the matchup having won 5 of their last 6, but the Mavs are the hottest team in the NBA right now with 7 straight wins. Dallas got the best of OKC in the first meeting less than a month ago, but that game was missing several key faces, including Isaiah Hartenstein for the Thunder and Luka Doncic for the Mavericks. Both will be in the starting lineups tonight.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Faces Tough Cover in Hosting Mavs for NBA Cup Quarterfinal

In the first meeting between these two teams, OKC didn’t have a big man, and Dallas was playing without Luka Doncic. Luka will be in action for the Mavs, and the Thunder has Isaiah Hartenstein in the starting lineup, so it should be a slightly different matchup. I think Hartenstein’s addition moves the needle more in this matchup, particularly because of OKC’s backcourt defense. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are one of the best scoring duos in the league, though, so slowing them down will be paramount to the Thunder not just winning but covering the spread. As for the Mavs on defense, I don’t think they have the ability to slow down OKC’s backcourt since they cannot simply clog the paint now that the Thunder has a talented big like Hartenstein.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #14: Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks meet on Sunday night for the first time since the Mavs got the best of the Thunder in last season’s Western Conference Semifinals. Since then, it feels like OKC has gotten better while Dallas has gotten marginally worse, but they meet under unique circumstances tonight as the Thunder is playing without any of their top 3 big men. The Mavericks are also playing in the second game of a back-to-back after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 110-93 last night.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Western Conference Semifinal Game 6: Dallas Mavericks

While OKC has trailed already in this series, this young Thunder squad hasn’t been in an elimination situation yet. They have an opportunity to force a Game 7 with a win, but it’s not going to be easy. OKC hasn’t shot the ball well pretty much all series, and Dallas has all the momentum after the Game 5 win. If the Thunder want to head back to OKC with a chance to win the series in Game 7, then they’re likely going to have step it up on defense, force some turnovers, score some easy buckets, and then let the rest of the game unfold from there.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Has Tough Cover In Win or Go Home Game 6

OKC’s active 4-game shooting stretch is unprecedented. Dallas deserves a little credit for their defense, but it just doesn’t make sense that the Thunder can’t get shots to fall. It’s got to change tonight, or this series is over. I can’t believe I’m believing again, but I fully anticipate OKC to finally start hitting some shots, which will lead to a win.
