After a run of six straight games against teams currently in a playoff position or a play-in scenario, the Oklahoma City Thunder should feel a lightening of the load on Wednesday as they take on the Brooklyn Nets. The Thunder kicked off a 5-game East Coast road trip Tuesday night with a 113-108 victory in Orlando against the Magic, and after this second game of a back-to-back, OKC has just one more back-to-back remaining in the season.

The Lockdown Quarter: How the Thunder Turned Defense Into Destiny
The moment that defined Oklahoma City’s 105–86 victory Friday night wasn’t a dunk, a three-pointer, or even the final buzzer. It was a stretch in…

Tonight, the Thunder hosts the Brooklyn Nets in the first game in a week, and it should serve as a nice palate cleanser after a pretty rough loss to the Milwaukee Bucks before All-Star Weekend. SGA and JDub remain out, and Ajay Mitchell should be returning sooner rather than later, but for now, it will be up to a rotation of other guards to hold down the backcourt. Brooklyn is just 15-39 on the season, and they’re well on their way to playoff elimination, so regardless of who is healthy for OKC, the Thunder should be able to score a convincing win in front of the home crowd ahead of some much tougher opponents in the next week.

This is near the largest spread of the season for the Thunder, and they’re missing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. I know Brooklyn is bad, and they are coming off a 112-84 loss to the Cavaliers in Cleveland last night, but there may be some rust from the All-Star Break that OKC needs to work out. While I do expect a decent win, I think Brooklyn ends up covering this massive spread.

The Thunder nearly found themselves with another embarrassing loss on Wednesday night as they kicked off a 3-game road trip with a meeting in Brooklyn against the shorthanded Nets. OKC entered the game as a 17.5-point favorite, but Brooklyn came out shooting lights out on their way to an early 18-point lead. The Thunder made several attempts to cut into the deficit, but Brooklyn maintained a double-digit lead until late in the third quarter.

The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered one of the worst meltdowns in the modern NBA on Monday when they gave away a 25-point fourth-quarter lead to the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, but they have an opportunity to get back on track Wednesday night as they kick off a 3-game road trip in Brooklyn against the Nets.

OKC is coming off one of the worst meltdowns in modern NBA history, and that’s not an exaggeration. After allowing the Timberwolves to come back from down 25 in the fourth quarter, the Thunder—arguably the league’s best team—are going to want to make a statement, and what better way to do that than by absolutely destroying an undermanned team that has a small change of even making the play-in? The Nets will be without at least three starters, and the Thunder is essentially back to full strength, so I expect a solid bounce back from the Western Conference’s top team.

The Oklahoma City Thunder was without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on Friday night as they dropped a 106-98 decision to the Mavericks in Dallas. SGA suffered a sprained wrist after a fall in the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, and he is questionable for Sunday night’s matchup in OKC against the Brooklyn Nets.

This is one of the largest spreads that OKC has had all season long, but they have covered twice when favored by at least 16 points. Brooklyn is extremely injured, and normally I would say that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander needs to play to cover this spread, but I think OKC takes care of business for yet another win at home. I do believe that Shai plays, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he sits to continue to rest that injured wrist.

For just the third time this season, OKC has lost two games in a row. They have yet to drop three in a row, and it’s doubtful to happen tonight as the Thunder continues their road trip in Washington, D.C. against the Wizards. The Wizards are on a 4-game losing streak and are just 6-29 on the season. Their third-worst +/- of -10.9 is due to their 17 losses by double digits, 13 of which have been by at least 16 points.
