The #1 team in the West takes on the #1 team in the East on Monday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder hosts the Detroit Pistons. Unfortunately, the Pistons are significantly shorthanded as Cade Cunningham recovers from a collapsed left lung, and Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, and Duncan Robinson are all out due to injury management. OKC will be without Isaiah Hartenstein and Jalen Williams due to injury management as well, but the Thunder is otherwise healthy.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Favored by Double Digits at Home Against Shorthanded Pistons
Cade Cunningham remains out with a collapsed left lung, and it looks like the Pistons are opting to rest their other four healthy starters. I’m sure OKC may end up resting some guys as well, but the Thunder is the deeper squad, so they should be able to win easily. Doing it by double digits, however, might take some work, but I’m thinking it could be a similar cover to last night’s game against the New York Knicks. I like the Thunder to win big.

Tonight, OKC takes on Detroit in the second game of a back-to-back against the freshly rested Pistons. Both teams are tied in the loss column for the fewest defeats in the NBA, but OKC holds 3 more wins over Detroit. Also, the Pistons enter this game completely healthy, whereas the Thunder is missing four starters on top of other key players.

The Pistons are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, and it probably helps that they’re healthy. The Thunder being an underdog for a third-straight game was not on my bingo card at any point this season, and while I’m not sure OKC can pull off a win in Detroit, I do think they end up covering the spread. This depleted version of the Thunder has played hard lately, and I don’t think they’re going to let up tonight, even if it is the second game of a back-to-back.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is the NBA’s hottest team right now, even though they locked up the top seed in the Western Conference a while ago. A 145-117 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday marked the 10th straight win for the Thunder, their second double-digit winning streak of the season. OKC now wraps up their current homestand with a matchup against the Detroit Pistons.

When these two teams met just a couple of weeks ago, the Thunder pulled out a 6-point win in Detroit. Since then, the Pistons have gone 5-2, but they are probably without Cade Cunningham tonight, and OKC has been just too good during this home stretch. I’m taking the Thunder to cover.

After a couple of days of rest, the Oklahoma City Thunder continues their Eastern Conference road trip with a meeting in Detroit against the surging Pistons. The Pistons have been a pleasant surprise for the league this season, emerging from the depths of the standings from the last couple of years to 6th place in the East coming down the final stretch of the season.

The Pistons are one of the biggest surprises as the season, but to anyone who has watched this team being built over the last couple of years, it’s not really that big of a shock. Cade Cunningham is a superstar in the making, and Detroit’s emergence in the Eastern Conference will not be short-lived. The spread is likely so small because Jalen Williams (hip) and Chet Holmgren (rest) are out tonight, and the Pistons have been playing really well lately. Still, I like OKC to pick up another solid road win, and I’m taking them to cover in the process.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has claimed sole possession of first place in the Western Conference standings as the Minnesota Timberwolves dropped a decision in San Antonio against the Spurs on Saturday. Now the Thunder takes on the Pistons in Detroit with the opportunity to put a little more distance ahead of the Wolves and the climbing Los Angeles Clippers.

The Pistons have been playing much more competitive basketball lately, and even though it hasn’t equated to wins, it’s still something that should be mentioned. 12.5 points is a pretty big spread, especially for a road team, but the Thunder is simply one of the best teams in the league. Detroit lost to Washington yesterday afternoon by 14, and OKC is obviously significantly better than the Wizards, so I’m leaning towards the Thunder winning this one big, even if it is an afternoon tip-off.
