There is a particular kind of loss that doesn’t bruise the standings but still leaves a mark. It doesn’t announce panic, doesn’t unravel belief, and…

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #56 Preview: Milwaukee Bucks
The Oklahoma City Thunder hosts the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night in the second game of a back-to-back for both teams before heading into the All-Star Break this weekend. OKC just defeated the Suns in Phoenix last night 136-109, and the Bucks beat the Magic in Orlando 116-108.

This spread can be a little tricky because I’m assuming it’s based on Jalen Williams sitting out after appearing to re-aggravate a right hamstring injury Wednesday night in Phoenix. Also, Chet Holmgren could end up missing after colliding with Williams in the second half against the Suns, but it’s hard to say. Still, OKC’s depth has played lights out lately, and with how bad Milwaukee has been, especially since Giannis’s injury, this feels like a great opportunity for the Thunder to get a big win in front of the home crowd before entering the All-Star Break.

The Oklahoma City Thunder wraps up a 4-game road trip on Wednesday with a final stop in Milwaukee to take on the Bucks. OKC is 2-1 on the trip so far after picking up a dominant 136-104 win in Cleveland over the Cavs on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Bucks are back at home for a few games after playing 11 of their last 14 games on the road. Milwaukee has struggled this season, but they have a better record at home (9-10) than on the road (9-14).

OKC’s injury report has grown since the Thunder last played, but they will still have the better lineup as they take the floor in Milwaukee. The Bucks have been pretty bad this year, and it’s not for lack of trying from Giannis Antetokounmpo. As good as the Greek Freak has been, the Thunder’s defense should focus on slowing down Milwaukee’s three-point shooting. At 39.4%, the Bucks are the 2nd-best in the NBA from beyond the arc. A crazy shooting night seems like the only thing that will keep Milwaukee in this one, which I don’t see happening, so I’m taking the Thunder to win by double digits and cover the spread.

The NBA’s top two scorers go head-to-head on Sunday night as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder continue their Eastern Conference road trip to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Both the Thunder and the Bucks played last night with both teams getting a win, but Milwaukee has the advantage of playing both of their games at home, while OKC is traveling.

A lot of people look back at the Thunder’s loss in the NBA Cup Final to the Milwaukee Bucks as an indicator that OKC will not be able to succeed in the postseason. Let’s ignore the fact that OKC wasn’t even healthy at the time. With that in mind, it almost feels like the Thunder might have a little more edge than normal going into this one, and despite some key guys like Jalen Williams and Luguentz Dort likely sitting this one out, I’m taking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC to win on the road and cover the spread.
