Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #14 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers

Just a day later, the Thunder is in Portland on Sunday night where they will take on the Trail Blazers. The Blazers are going through it right now as they sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 3-9 record, but when you see their long injury report, you can understand why. OKC has had Portland’s number for the last two seasons with 8 straight wins against the Blazers, but 7 of those wins have been decided by single digits.

Thunder Against the Spread | Expect a Big Win for OKC in Portland

OKC must win this game at all costs. Portland is severely depleted, and the Thunder is as close to full-strength as they have been all season. OKC hasn’t been favored by this much in a long time, but I’m anticipating a large margin of victory.

OKC Thunder | Game #75 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers

The Oklahoma City Thunder wraps up a 4-game West Coast road trip on Sunday evening as they take on the depleted Portland Trail Blazers. OKC is 1-2 so far on the road trip, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers in a tight one last Tuesday before getting blown out by them on Thursday followed by another tight loss in LA against the Lakers.

Thunder Against the Spread | Take OKC as Road Dogs in Portland

I’m not quite sure why OKC is the underdog here. Chalk it up to being on the road, I guess. The Thunder has already defeated the Blazers twice so far, and after yesterday’s crazy trade deadline, the Blazers are probably slightly less prepared for this game than OKC is. I like the Thunder to at least cover the small spread, but if Luguentz Dort is ready to go, then I like OKC to win.

OKC Thunder | Game #55 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers

The Thunder continues their West Coast road trip on Friday night as they travel to Portland to take on Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers. OKC defeated the Blazers twice in OKC earlier this season, but both teams look slightly different after Thursday’s whirlwind of a trade deadline. The primary core for each squad has remained intact, though, so this should be a good matchup. Luguentz Dort has been upgraded to questionable for OKC, and if he is able to play, that would be a huge relief, as he has done a really good job at slowing down Damian Lillard over the last few years.

Thunder Against the Spread | Will OKC Cover Against Portland Again?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a rough shooting night on Monday, but he still managed to impact the game, and OKC pulled out the win off his buzzer-beater. I think he has a much better game tonight, and I think OKC finds a way to slow down Portland’s three-point shooting at least marginally better than they did on Monday. As a result, don’t be surprised if OKC beats Portland for the second time in three days.

Thunder Against the Spread | Take the Thunder to Cover against Portland Whether Shai Plays or Not

Simply put, if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out again with a back contusion, the Thunder shouldn’t have a chance to win this one and probably not even cover, but I like what the second unit guys have been doing in the absence of Shai and other guys like Josh Giddey and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. I’m going to give the young guns a chance as underdogs and pick them to cover at home against Damian Lillard and the Blazers.

Thunder Against the Spread | Don’t Expect a Thunder Win in the Home Finale

The Thunder did themselves no favors in terms of the tank the other night when they dominated the Suns at home, so I feel like they’re going to do everything they can within reason to lose this one. At the same time, it’s the home finale, and maybe they’ll want to show out in front of the fans. Still, after an impressive win like Sunday, I expect an equally impressive loss tonight.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #79 Preview: Portland Trail Blazers

It’s been a long NBA regular season in a lot of ways, but the end is basically here as the Oklahoma City Thunder will finish the season on a 3-game road trip beginning tomorrow in Utah against the Jazz. Before the Thunder does that, however, they will play one more game tonight in OKC as they host the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2021-22 home finale.
