Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #33 Preview: Atlanta Hawks

OKC has plenty of opportunities to show what they’re made of this month as they have a league-high 5 back-to-backs starting with tonight’s second game of a back-to-back on the road against the Atlanta Hawks. Despite making it to the Eastern Conference Finals just a few years ago, the Hawks have fallen off badly. Despite having one of the league’s top offenses, they are just 13-19 on the season due to their bottom tier defense.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Given Slight Edge Over Hawks in Atlanta

This is a classic trap game for OKC. Heading out on the road for the second game of a back-to-back after defeating the NBA’s best record is a tall order, regardless of who the opponent is. Thankfully in this case, it’s against the Atlanta Hawks, who are not having such a great season. Losers of 4 of their last 5 at home, the Hawks are just 1-12 against the spread at home, while the Thunder has the best road record in the league and has gone 9-4-1 against the spread on the road. SEGABA or not, I’m taking OKC to cover.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Looks Good as Slight Home Underdog to Hawks

OKC actually opened up as a 1-point favorite in this matchup, but they have since gone up and down to finally settle as a slight underdog. I believe these two teams are pretty evenly matched, despite the fact that the Hawks have an advantage in their frontcourt. Regardless, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has played like a top-10 player this season, and I think he will look like the best player on the court tonight. I’m taking OKC to win this one.

OKC Thunder | Game #48 Preview: Atlanta Hawks

OKC looks to stay hot on Wednesday night as they host the Atlanta Hawks, who have lost two in a row after winning 5 straight. The Hawks currently sit in 8th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 24-24 record, just a half-game ahead of the Indiana Pacers, but a game and a half behind the New York Knicks.

Thunder Against the Spread | Expect Plenty of Points in Atlanta

This is a tough one. OKC is playing pretty good basketball; even when they lose, it’s close. Atlanta has looked very back and forth, but with a talented backcourt of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, they matchup well with OKC. I think this will be a fun close game.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #69: San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are lacking a true superstar, but Dejounte Murray has proven himself as an elite playmaker, putting up 20.8 points, 8.4 assists, and 9.4 rebounds per game. San Antonio also has five other players that average double-digit scoring, and collectively, the Spurs are 8th in the NBA in scoring.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #44 Preview: San Antonio Spurs

Tonight, the Thunder continues their long road trip as they take on the Spurs in San Antonio. The Spurs have had their own tough season thus far, struggling their way to a 16-28 record. At this point, they’re just a few games out of a spot for the play-in tournament, and there’s still plenty of season left, but they don’t really have a roster that’s built to compete.

Thunder Against The Spread | A Different Offensive Team When Playing At Home

Fresh off its first home win of the season, OKC comes home to face a San Antonio team that has had it’s share of struggles this season as well. Despite a losing record, the Spurs have been very good against the spread on the road, including a 1-0 record as a road favorite. That said, the Thunder are coving 66% of the time as a home dog and are 4-4 overall as an underdog this season.

Thunder Against The Spread | Gotta Love The Spurs & The Under Tonight

I’m not saying that I’m giving up on the Thunder here but they are slowly losing that road warrior stigma that they had so strongly just a month back. Oklahoma City has lost three of the last four games, against the spread, on the road and last night’s loss to an undermanned Dallas team is enough to make me believe that a Spurs team absent of Rudy Gay and possibly LaMarcus Aldridge could cover as a favorite against the Thunder as well.
