Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #16 Preview: Sacramento Kings

The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their franchise-best start to a regular season on Monday night with a 126-109 victory in New Orleans against the Pelicans as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 30 points and 7 assists, resting the entire fourth quarter for the 8th time already this season. Now, OKC hosts the Sacramento Kings—the third meeting between these two teams already this season—as the Thunder looks to move to 15-1 on the season.

Thunder Against the Spread | Blowout Expected in OKC as Kings are Without Domantas Sabonis

Sacramento has lost 6 consecutive games by an average of 22 points. The Kings have had the toughest schedule in the NBA so far this season, but still, even a play-in spot seems unlikely at this point for them. To add insult to injury, Sacramento will be without Domantas Sabonis for the second straight matchup against the Thunder. When these two teams met in Sacramento almost 2 weeks ago, OKC won by 31 points. I don’t expect that big of a blowout tonight, but it’s probably going to be in the 20ish points range.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #10 Preview: Sacramento Kings

The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday in Portland, a 121-119 decision against the Blazers. They have a chance to get back on the winning track on Friday night in Sacramento as they take on the Kings for the second time in 10 days.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Favored by Double Digits in Sacramento

OKC was especially good at bouncing back from losses last season, and I anticipate that will be the case again this season. The Thunder struggled late in Portland on Wednesday, but after a day of rest, they should be closer to their typical form. Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso are off the injury report, and Luguent Dort is questionable. Meanwhile, Domantas Sabonis is questionable for the Kings. I think OKC comes out with a sense of urgency, covering the double-digit spread.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Wraps Up West Coast Trip as a Double-Digit Favorite Over Kings in Sacramento

The Thunder locked up the top spot in the West last week, and Sacramento is fighting desperately for some footing in the Western Conference standings. Still, OKC has mostly played well lately, regardless of who is in and who is out. Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams are both questionable tonight, and though the Kings could use a win, I don’t see it happening. I expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to have a solid bounce-back game with OKC winning by double digits.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #47 Preview: Sacramento Kings

The Oklahoma City Thunder dropped their third loss in the last 6 games on Wednesday night as they fell 116-109 on the road to the Golden State Warriors. Shots weren’t falling for the Thunder, the Warriors hit some crazy ones late, and despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander popping for 52 points—his second 50-point game in the last 4 games—OKC couldn’t get the job done. Now the Thunder looks to get back on track as they host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Looks to Get Back on Track as Big Favorite At Home Against Kings

OKC suffered a tough loss on Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors, and it cannot be understated how great teams have to respond after suffering some adversity. The Thunder has responded to their previous 8 losses by winning the next game all but once and doing so by double digits in 6-of-7 wins. I think OKC comes out at home amped up and ready to right the ship by giving fans a convincing win over the Kings.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #17 Preview: Sacramento Kings

After a 4-day break, the Oklahoma City Thunder is back in action on Monday night as they kickoff a 4-game road trip that consists of 3 West Coast games starting in Sacramento against the Kings. They Kings are just 8-9 on the season, and they have lost 3 straight.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC a Slight Road Favorite Against Skidding Kings

Despite a pretty successful last few seasons, the Sacramento Kings have struggled so far this year on their way to an 8-9 record. Now that OKC has Isaiah Hartenstein available, he should be able to negate some of the effect that Domantas Sabonis has had against the Thunder for so long now. The Kings are on a 3-game skid, and they are playing in the second game of a back-to-back. OKC hasn’t won in Sacramento since January 29, 2020—7 straight losses—and I think that comes to an end in a decisive manner tonight.
