Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #44 Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers

The Oklahoma City Thunder continues the 4-game road trip on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with a matinee matchup in Cleveland against the Cavaliers. The Thunder is fresh off a tough 122-120 loss in Miami against the Heat on Saturday, while the Cavs are coming off two days of rest after a narrow 117-115 win in Philadelphia against the 76ers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder take on the league’s best record on Thursday night as the Cleveland Cavaliers are in town, but the Thunder will have to do it without big man Isaiah Hartenstein, who is out with a strained left soleus. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen were dominant in the first matchup between these two teams just 8 days ago, so OKC will have to figure out a way to be successful in matching up small ball with Cleveland’s big men.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC a Narrow Favorite at Home Against Cavs Despite No Hartenstein

With no Isaiah Hartenstein or Chet Holmgren, OKC might win one or two games against the Cavaliers if this were a 7-game series. Fortunately for the Thunder, this just a regular season game, which gives them a lot of options. Losing Hartenstein for at least a week sucks, but OKC still has the best player in the matchup, so I’m thinking the Thunder can strategize well enough to sneak past Cleveland for a win tonight.

The Oklahoma City Thunder snapped their 5-game winning streak in a big way on Thursday night when they dominated the short-handed Brooklyn Nets on the road 130-109. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander popped off for 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists; and Luguentz Dort added 27 points while shooting 6-for-10 from downtown. Tonight the Thunder is back in OKC for the lone home game in a 7-game stretch as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder is on 3-game losing streak after dropping a 980-85 decision to the Bucks on Friday night, and tonight’s matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers might be their best chance to get a win for a while. The Cavs are just 10-20 on the season—14th in the Eastern Conference standings—but the Thunder is just a slight favorite.

Game #23 Preview | Brooklyn Nets

Tonight, the Thunder takes on the Nets in Brooklyn, who are not having such a great season. At 8-17, the Nets have lost 7 in a row. The Nets’ leading scorer Caris LeVert went down with an injury a few weeks ago, and he should be out for some time. Now, the Nets are relying on point guard D’Angelo Russell to lead the way.
